Just a question as I’m waiting for a new electric car to be delivered and they have included installation offer when it arrives free of charge. However, I’m a bit concerned as to whether they will need to get to the main switchboard which is all the way round the house which is going to be really tricky - can they patch straight into the Ring main from my kitchen as that is closer to my drive and will it give the same KW charge? I don't know enough about it really. Thanks

The vehicle can be charged in a number of ways/modes. If they are providing the installation of a dedicated EVSE then this will be a dedicated circuit and be quite complex in it's design arrangements.

You can't determine the right way to install the EVSE charging point without some form of initial survey.

If they are just providing a mode 2 on an existing socket outlet circuit, then it's going to require a dedicates socket-outlet which will most likely need to be replaced with one made for purpose. Again there are key points that should be surveyed first here.

Thanks, just waiting for them to call me to arrange an inspection….
