first you need to learn to test. and NO, you can;t sign off other peoples work, even if you are competent to test and inspect.

hi martin they said i would get these

  • Module 1 - Basic Electrical Generic Module
  • Module 2 - Domestic Electrical Part 1:- Domestic Wiring Circuit
  • City and Guilds 2382-10 - Level 3 Certificate - 17th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • City and Guilds 2377-12 - Level 3 Certificate - Portable Appliance Testing
  • City and Guilds 2391-10 - Level 3 Certificate - Inspection and Testing
  • City and Guilds 2392-10 - Level 3 Certificate - Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification
  • City and Guilds 2393-10 - Level 3 Certificate - Certificate in the Building Regulations for Electrical installations in Dwellings
[h=5]NOTE - These Courses offer Nationally Recognised Qualifications Essential in the Workplace[/h]

read it again. you get the basic for your ÂŁ2500+. all the c&g qualifications listed are bolt-ons at additional cost. bloody conmen.

That lot in 4 weeks im sorry simon i dont mean to be negative , but it takes years to become a good electrician what you need to do is speak to your local college get your self on a basic installation course normally about 15 weeks and work your way up .speak to a few local electrical contractors and see if they require an apprentice and slowly build up your knowlage ive been at it for over 25 years and im still learning ,

So I have wasted 6 years training and getting qualifications when I could have done it in 4 weeks ? well if it looks to good to be true it probably is my advice would be if you still want to do this then make sure you have the ÂŁ2500 PLEASE do not borrow it why ?well if it does not work out at least you tried and lost ÂŁ2500 or you will now owe ÂŁ3500 and climbing with no prospect of paying it off and if you want to owe ÂŁ4500 then put it on your credit card.

Before you sign up to any of this go to a local library and get one of those DIY book thingies and get yourself some knowledge yes I know its easier to come on this forum but that is just plain lazy plus there are a lot of guys here who are concerned that people are jumping in too early

all it will do is give you some basic knowledge, about the same as an average DIYer. don't FFS waste your money. do as nickblake suggested. speak to localo college.
