i cant argue for or against them short courses...! most of mine were exactly that! (apart from my level 3 which took 18 months)

i had experience in the royal navy (apprentice in engineering) so hands on electrical and mechanical work was ok for me. i must have paid out an awful amount of money to get me where i am but it was just the paper work i was lacking not BOTH

Whether this is genuine or not, it has cheered me up no end, nice little chuckle to help me through the mountains of certs ive got to do for this pv ****e lol

I laughed so hard my turbin fell off into my curry.

hi martin they said i would get these
  • Module 1 - Basic Electrical Generic Module
  • Module 2 - Domestic Electrical Part 1:- Domestic Wiring Circuit
  • City and Guilds 2382-10 - Level 3 Certificate - 17th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • City and Guilds 2377-12 - Level 3 Certificate - Portable Appliance Testing
  • City and Guilds 2391-10 - Level 3 Certificate - Inspection and Testing
  • City and Guilds 2392-10 - Level 3 Certificate - Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification
  • City and Guilds 2393-10 - Level 3 Certificate - Certificate in the Building Regulations for Electrical installations in Dwellings
NOTE - These Courses offer Nationally Recognised Qualifications Essential in the Workplace

Applying for a job as an electrician in a commercial / industrial / maintenance role and your CV would be in the bin I would think. All those course as said are good to have but minus the 2391 and 2382 the rest only good for domestic and even then they only offer you a theoretical knowledge. It took me 4 years to do my apprenticeship and then probably another 4 years of solid work in varied industries and working environments before I would class myself as competent to "go it alone", even in a dwelling where things are a little simpler most of the time.

When I did my JIB apprenticeship courses like a 5 week wonder course werent available iirc and thats in no way a bad thing in my opinion.

These last few weeks I have had quite a few calls that start with "I had this electrician in to do some work, he was part p.... can you come and make it work properly please"

I think this thread is a wind up (sorry Simon). My spider sense is tingling big style verri happi yes-yes pleeesz helpen me ans Q's plees

no its when im qulified electrician im thinking of doing landlord certs but didnt no if you had to be reg with a company to hand the certificates out after the testing is done! because im thinking of doing a tec20 course this company called Technique Training in bilbourough! what do you all think to these courses!!!! thats the company im thinking of going with its a 4weeks course will be able to work as an fully quilified electrician after them 4weeks training

TECHNIQUE TRAINING LTD
Midland Court
Midland Way
Barlborough
Chesterfield
S43 4UL

utter rubbish

The quals are rubbish, the trainers are liars, you will not be an electrician after 4 weeks, your chances of employment with these quals in our trade are very limited, and there is no such thing as a landlords certificate, the chances of you passing 2391 after 4 weeks training is zero
There's a few things you've learnt today.
Go to your local college and enrol on City and Guilds 2330, it's the baseline qualification for our industry. If you do this you will thank us for that advice in later years mate

You forgot the making of the coffee, someone to shout and ball at and someone to blame when things go wrong.

The ÂŁ2500 should see you through 4 years of college courses!

Had a look at the training providers website:
A 4 week course which gives you the foundation knowledge you need to commence working as a domestic electrician. The courses are a mixture of both practical work and theoretical study, with the emphasis being put on as much practical as possible.

So maybe the Electrical Trainee will be gone soon, to be replaced with a electrical trainee.

if you can become an electrician in 4 weeks

i must have been a slow learner as i was a 260week wonder plus all the other weeks spent since then and COMING SOON TO A COLLEGE NEAR YOU THE 18TH EDITION

Naw Naw we still need another 17th edition review and then a BBB a big blue book or a blue onsite guide then when we get to the 18th then we can go for a Big Lime Green book

Was going to add the same thing....... Perhaps it's coz we is slow Mackers that we don't earn the ÂŁ55k you can earn after doing a 4 week course!
