Hi all

Just looking for some advice pls. I've been told that I need a new CU as the existing main switch has the wrong rating. Isn't possible to just change the main switch. Existing CU is Marbo.

Many thanks

Change main fuse would be easiest thing to do if your that worried about it, what coding did he put it down to? C3? Did he give you a cert saying unsatisfactory? If not just ignore it as next time meter man comes to upgrade meter he will down grade to 60amp fuse more than likely anyway so don't worry about it.

Probably best to get a second opinion as has been suggested, if he's done work for you before then it can be assumed you are happy with him and there maybe an honest reason for him making the statement.
I rang a local electrician the other day, he hasn't been out to look, but pretty much said the same as everyone else on here. Don't think I'll be changing it. Haven't got a copy of the report yet but it doesn't seem to be as serious as he's making out. Funny enough, it would've been his first job after his hols!

Will try and get a photo.

Thanks again

when you get this report....just have a look at any 1s n 2s (if any)...just have a look at whats been put on it....
as i suspect their`l be other nonsense here n all....

C1/2 on a single bonding conductor to both gas and water anyone?..lol..

What size cable and has it been cut?

Who cares on an existing install? As long as it's secure and readings are ok.........
