Hi all

Just looking for some advice pls. I've been told that I need a new CU as the existing main switch has the wrong rating. Isn't possible to just change the main switch. Existing CU is Marbo.

Many thanks

Every DNO has different policies. I'm not saying its right I just stated what happened at mine and what I was told.

They do that around here (Huddersfield area) also and it's not only at meter changes either, disconnections of supply at business premises (for non payment) and even loss of supplies in domestic they will downgrade. 100's are given 80's and 80's are given 60's, the latter is typical of domestic. My feelings are that they are doing it to gain 'more' capacity at the sub stations as more and more housing is needed to meet government targets.

Yep there is no doubting it we have generation problems with regards to we cannot control the load. In my view they should structured the smart meters in time of emergency to ration the supply and before anyone says thats not on well its either that or power cuts.

Although generating companies are getting big sites with generator back up and they are paying to remotely switch them on and off taking a big load off the grid so this is a clever move but thing is we can no longer keep using electricity the way we are without getting problems so downgrading fuses is basically the British fudge that fools no one.

no....not just ration the supply....
theres something soviet about that....
how about starting to construct new powerstations....this means someone taking the lead in westminster....
and telling all these `way out west` groups that seem to spring up where to go n all...
christ, they would return us all back to the dark ages if they had the chance....quite literally....

Yep hear what you say but would you not rather have a smart meter limiting you to say 25 amps thas lets you have GCH,light,TV etc or a power cut and yes by all means build more power stations generste work yes all for that but as MPs are saying we need to build 3 Birminghams to to keep up with the immigration for the next 10 years.

In other words do the maths we need to get responsable instead of selfish but if we are to get selfish then one bad winter and a lot of dead pensioners that is the choice we just dont have the generating capacity even if we start tomorrow

They'll just have to put on a extra jumper! :p

You haven't paid him have you?

I haven't paid yet. Usually get invoiced. Here's the culprit (not the prettiest) if anyone's interested.

well....a clear indication on government immigration policy....that is to say they have no meaningful policy..
and before anyone mentions labour....they have no policy at all...on anything meaningful..
make them answerable....
and we certainly don`t need another Birmingham...
anyone remember the concrete pit in the ground that was the bull ring?

thats a load of crap..i can tell you....
anyone who i ever employed to go out doing install who had committed that crime would be in the office to explain themselves....
its got all the hallmarks of a five weeker has that...
and just out of interest....has the cover got any blanking plates covering the unused ways?...
caus if not then its even worse than usual....
check out the unused busbar forks...lol...

them tails are missing the sheathing outside the enclosure n all..
look, i would just throw a 3 at all this ...but keeping an open mind as to 1s n 2s....
but most of that will tidy up....
theres not enough finals in there to warrent a bigger incomer....or bullit for that matter...
