Hello people

This question may have been asked before, but I was wondering which suppliers/wholesalers do you find the cheapest to buy from for general electrical supplies? Also where is reasonable to buy decent handtools? Cheers M :D

'Cheap' is an interesting word. I've just fitted 2 new garage CUs on separate jobs and both RCDs have failed testing. They were cheap but the replacements won't be.

I use CEF but they're not the cheapest. I was working away a week or so and went into Senate for the first time. They were fairly cheap and had an amazing stock. Otherwise I use Denmans if I can afford to wait for delivery.

Handtools I buy on the Internet, usually eBay or Lawson. I use CK mostly.

Hi Steamboatwilly, I know what you mean, not always best to buy 'cheap' but I suppose with anything you get what you pay for :) I have checked out Lawson's website that you have mentioned and they seem very competative-they've got the cheapest CK combicutters I can find anywhere!! Cheers for that! I'm gonna buy them!

Fab....good luck matey. BTW, TLC Electrical Supplies are also pretty good price-wise. They add VAT and postage but they are still quite good for some things. Every now and then Screwfix do good clearouts/bargains.

I use a couple of local small wholesalers, very reasonably priced and i can usually get a few more bob knocked off if i ask.

10 dual split load CU wylex with all breakers £69 all in.
They will both beat Screwfix (local branch is 2 miles away) on everything else.

A&R Electrical, Morley
Wholesale Electro, Beeston

Both in Leeds

Absolutely correct they hold water, shrouds are totally unnecessary. 20s is 24mm spanner, 20 large is 30mm spanner.

I'm not entirely certain as it's very tough, but brittle when cold.
