No UNG, you need to read what I said. I did not say it was a replacement for MI. I said it was a replacement for MI used in fire alarm/EM lighting systems. They don't see much light now but my MI tools have seen there fair share of bare and orange MI. I'm not sure but I think the only colours FP/Firefuff comes in are red/White is what I was saying, strange that.

Tazz you should not be installing your fire alarm cables with anything else. The fire alarm cable supplying your panel is a different kettle of fish.

After 25 years, as a BSI Design Engineer, I think I`ve worked out Enhanced supply cables. which are not all FP......!!!

Hi All, Am i correct in saying FP200 230v cable and run parallel, (i.e. on same tray/basket with no divider) with FP200 Cat 5 cable. Reason being FP200 is self segregating? Just want a clear answer please chaps.
Is it screened? I expect so, I would have no issue running fire and data on the same tray myself, just keep it 6" apart if possible, the odd cross over won't be an issue.

So are we saying that Firetuf been rated at above 230v but carrying data, can sit side by side with FP carrying 230v?

Sorry for late reply...in practice no....designers keep all ultra low voltage (data, fire, comms, security) on the ULV basket no matter what the cable is constructed of... Low voltage (mains sockets lighting etc) usually in box trunking, with possible FP for em lighting at 230v. So to conclude ULV on one tray, LV on a separate tray. Hope this helps

Thanks, yes I'm familiar with that sense of it. I just picked up that FP was self segregating and wanted to know if 2 cables ie FP & Firetuf(both incorporating a screen) can be run side by side, no matter what they are running. But all the replies have cleared it up. Thanks again.

Self segregating cable is only laid by apprentices, they lay all the twin and earth, FP, Pyro etc and door bell wire and cat 5 together and then go for lunch...

when the apprentice returns it is all separated. Oh yes this has been done by the boss when he was trying to have lunch.

so the apprentice then thinks it just happens, this is where the term comes from.

well just an idea anyway.
