Remember pete I said the thermistor was scaled up or faulty:p or the BULB needs changing:rolleyes:
The thermistor clips on to the pipework can't see how it could be scaled up, nackered maybe, thanks for the input anyway, oh by the way all the LAMPS were OK

You didn't think my imput was of much help but it seems I was was right and the guy you had out was a dick.
A grand to clean the plate :D I will do it for half that...................or maybe a lot less.
You can't clean these plates it's replace or go without, what makes you think I didn't think much of your input/ although my reply may have seemed as a sarky reply it wasn't meant that way

I will post a photo of one being cleaned in a moment.
Yes that's the jobby, well I stand corrected will go to the naughty step for the rest of the evening, just a question for you, how long will that exchanger last until it's next clean, I realise that depends on lots of variables, just a ball park idea,

I don't often have to do them again on the heating side as usually it's dhw that scales up. If the heating system is fairly clean it would be several years. If it was dirty, I would put a cleaner in, drain and refill and expect several years.

The bloke you had out didn't know jack I'm afraid.

11 years about going to get it changed not BG a gas safe bloke I know and a 10 year warranty
TBH Pete I would consider that a wise decision. Boilers 11 years old, parts start coming obsolete/expensive if you can find them and you don't really want to start chucking money at something that's no far off becoming just that. Do you know what boiler your going for? The baxi ecoblue advance combi and the ideal vogue IMO at both good boilers and offering a 10 year parts and labour warranty if the boilers serviced every year by a gas safe guy and fills in the benchmark book. Make sure you get a decent magnetic filter if you don't already have one like a magna clean or fernox TF1. Might be the perfect time to upgrade the controls for maximum efficiency if they are of a similar age and put something in that has optimum start like a Honeywell CM921 or if you want to go all out a learning thermostat like nest.
