The answer we got from the winners was a temperature crayon ... good for several thousand strokes, no electronics, batteries etc, extremely accurate and very portable robust ..basically nails every criteria.

We had 3 with the answer and 2 prizes so we had to do an out of the hat draw for the prizes.
