Doing some steel conduit bending (90, single set and double set) but can't find anything online of how to do it or such, can anyone direct me to some posts/videos on how to bend them?

Thanks,
Kieren

I didn't check any of them out but if you type the term "Conduit bending" into youtube you may get a pleasant surprise. About 6 seconds work that was.

buy some pipe and have a go yourself, no need for videos, you will need to mark your former as well, I cut a grove in mine with a hacksaw so the bend is right every time, however 2-3 attempts may be needed to get it right, bending pipe and becomming a conduit commando is all about practice not videos IMHO.

There is, isn't there! Although they refer to the ETCI, Electro-technical Council of Ireland, each rule appears to align with BS7671 to some extent, and component / accessory parlance is identical. I would, however, err on the side of caution and cross-reference for accuracy before acting on any of the guidance there.

A number of their course notes are available online, so would assume available for public reference, else it would be stored securely via their intranet or other means, surely.

I link to their 'portal' below, which I've found a very useful resource; their literature is peppered with real-life photographs and other such references, which makes reading a little richer and informative than some of the B&B handouts. In my opinion, of course.

To the mods, please remove this if this isn't appropriate.

Plus a mentor who will patiently show you how to do it then supervise you while you do one, and who will slap the crap out of you if you bugger it up too many times.
Worked for me :)

its practice.

Perhaps, but I doubt the OP has a bending machine at home.

Thanks for the document Happy Jack, I added it to the useful pdf's thread as well.
Thanks Marvo.

I remember one of our tutors explaining the formal method of produce concentric / segment bends. I remember thinking at the time that doing it 'by eye' was surely impossible, and that without knowing the method, you'd had nothing to gain from any practice. Unless you wanted to practice getting things wrong. Repeatedly.

There is some value in having a reference unless you really are that capable with the stuff.

always more satisfying doing it by eye then grabbing tape to make sure.

(i have used plumbers method of using piece of paper but tend to work to back of bend)

When I was at college my dad hired a bender for me :D

He stuck me in the garage with about 20 lengths and told me to get to work, needless to say I worked up a bit of sweat but I got my technique just right! hahaha

Treat the bender well, give it some attention and some tender loving care and you will be rewarded my friend :D
