Confused !

And I’m hoping someone can throw some light on the situ.

I’m going to apply for a ECS card.
My qualifications are: C&G 2360 (1&2) in 2003 , C&G 2391 in 2009 and 17[SUP]th[/SUP] Ed.

ELECSA (I’m part P member) have informed me that 2360 + 17[SUP]th[/SUP] Ed are equivalent to the NVQ 3 required by the ECS people.

However the young guy I spoke to at ECS, was adamant that I had to have the NVQ 3, (informing me with a bunch of tel no.s for suppliers of the course !).

Not wishing to labour the point, I thought I’d see if any of you guys could throw some light on the situation? I.E ‘Who’s correct’ ?

I’ve had a read around, but can’t seem to find anything that specifically states this as a fact, you know, something that I could physically show him, or staple to the enrolment/application form.
I am aware that I’ll have to sit a cscs H&S test and do a AM2 exam (I think), but these can be sorted relatively quickly, where-as the NVQ3, takes plenty of time and money, both I’m short of (aren’t we all?) Plus getting a little fed up with jumping through hoops and coughing up for Red tape (oh, don’t get me, started……)

Thanks in advance

yeah your running down JIB cards, and promoting CSCS cards "mate" as mentioned yet again they are completely different and cannot be compaired at all, even a chimpanze can get a CSCS card if he has 40 quid.

what part of I know the difference between the two cards don't you get ?

well after reading all the posts again dpiers I have to say buddy I do not understand the question, it just seems to me you have started a thread about running the JIB card down and asked what it's merits are, I think that question has been answered, don't you?

Are you in charge of people ?

I'd never be in charge of you, I only employ experienced electricians or new electricians who actually are prepared to learn about the trade, last bite then, how do you expect to be taken seriously here running the JIB card down and saying the CSCS is as good because it gets you on site, many kisses and best wishes :leaving: :leaving:

because at the end of the day you can still get on site with it

simples xxxxx

(there seems to the this kind of elitist attitude if you don't have a JIB card your not an electrician attitude)

Look I understand your frustration, but a CSCS card won't give you electrician's status will it? regardless of the JIB card question.

i hope after all this debate you ( or wife ) actually found your god damn jib tech card.
you sort of lose a bit of credibiltiy after sticking it in a drawer for years lol.
mines under the pillow :-D

I didn't find it actually, I spoke to the JIB today and they told me to pay them £24.00 and they will send me a new one, they have me on the system so all good there hehe.

sorry If I offended you, but please don't run grade cards down here and say the CSCS card is as good, I am not a great lover of the JIB myself but the 2 cards couldn't be different and not compaired together, chill out, cheer up and calm down, were all friends here even if the posts seem a little nasty, sorry fella, chin up.
