What route would you advise for someone like me who actually wants to be an electrician because it interests me, rather than to just have another job. I'm coming to the end of level 2 - 2330, with 17th just before start of level 3 and I've also signed up for the NVQ 3, I would like as much range as possible and enjoy all the technical aspect having worked in the printed circuit board industry before. Give it a couple of years then a testing qualification?

Stay on the course you are on.

When you've completed your Level 3 and NVQ, have a think about maybe doing an inspection and testing course, or a design course.

Ive passed my Level 2 2330 last year and have started my level 3 2330 this year, quite a lot harder and a lot to cram into 1 year at college. Have done the course for 17th Ed just need to take the exam.

You see Lee that's how loads of lads in your situation are gettng conned. You're given the impression that to take domestic work you need that qual but if you're installing to BS7671 you're installing to part p. What you will need for domestic work is scam registration but the minimum requirement is holding the 17th

thats cleared up alot for me too, cheers trev

Hi, been a sparks mate off and on for about 7 years working mostly on commercial sites.
Decided to go for the c&g 2357 electrical diploma with OLCI, so far it seems oki, course work could be better though my tutor is good and booking your assessment is pita.
I have done 301, 302, 303 and 309 assessments though i resit my 309 written exam next week some of what was on the exam wasnt even in the coursework, its the last knowledge unit exam though somehow i booked myself in early, it covers maths, physics, transformers, motors etc.
I also have ticket wise my ECS card, PASMA card and IPAF card.
