Just a theoretical question,

If changing a CU and using adaptable box and din rail connectors, working with singles/tri-rated if extending a ring circuit would it be considered bad practise/etc to extend with 4mm2 Instead of using 2x2.5mm2? This is without taking into account de-rating factors as ran in a group etc, but we won't go into that...

Electrically theoretically ok with regard to current carrying capacity but potentially confusing when carrying out future EICR or fault finding ie ring end to end. Could be confused for 4mm radial if adaptable box not immediately visible.

I would extend the two legs to the new DB, but that's just me.

There's nothing stopping you from lollypopping from the adaptable box to the DB with one cable so long as it is rated appropriately.

been thinking of doing that, using wago862, 32A rated connectors, they take up to 4mm cable. wire it up nicely with some tri rated cable in my workshop, then on the site is just a matter of connecting it up. all cables cut and stripped for same length. should look tidy enough, no matter how hard i try my consumer units look a little bit of a mess :-(
