You should

keep both hands on the handlebars except when signalling or changing gear
keep both feet on the pedals
never ride more than two abreast, and ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends
not ride close behind another vehicle
not carry anything which will affect your balance or may get tangled up with your wheels or chain
be considerate of other road users, particularly blind and partially sighted pedestrians. Let them know you are there when necessary, for example, by ringing your bell if you have one. It is recommended that a bell be fitted.

I was in Cambridge recently for my daughters graduation and the number of cyclists riding through the pedestrianised areas of the city at speed was quite frightening and demonstrated a total lack of respect for those on foot. Just out of the centre many cyclists showed an unbelievable lack of awareness of other traffic weaving in and out of cycle lanes in front of other vehicles without making any observations or signalling their intentions to other road users. Many of these cyclists seem to have some perception that they have a right of way over all other forms of transport including shank's pony. There needs to be some form of hazard perception training and in town / city centres some form of regulation for cyclists to prevent what could be a serious or fatal incident for some unfortunate pedestrian or themselves for that matter.

Cambridge is a cycle friendly city, lots of cycle lanes and cycle routes to make it easy for cyclists, so they think they are the most important and have no consideration.
I was coming round a two lane bend and the car beside me was moving into my lane (where I was) and I was moving left to avoid a collision, the cyclist behind me wanted to overtake on the inside and thumped his fist on my car because I was close to the kerb and he could not get past, totally not observing the traffic situation.

lucky cyclist what if you had paniced and did an emergency stop? Idiots like this just raise tempers and increase the risk of accidents.

no cause if i did i wouldnt be posting on here, im usually a very calm person but when i lose my temper...

i havent lost it in a few years though

The problem is that there are idiots who drive cars, idiots who ride motorbikes and idiots who ride push bikes. There always will be. Some people just think that they own the road, whatever they are driving/riding.
There are cyclist who are too important to indicate which way they are going and car drives who think that they can cut you off on a two lane roundabout so that they don't have to turn as much.
Idiots everywhere.....

My thoughts exactly mate. Never had one do anything to the car yet (well, one clipped my wing mirror with his elbow once haha), but I'm just waiting for it.

As for calmness, I'm in the same situation due to a head injury 10 years ago.

Thing with cyclists though, is that they routinely put their lives in danger and I just can't fathom why. It's either pure idiocy or a complete lack of awareness.
