You’d assume (or I did anyway) the singles were the ring and the other crazy things are later additions.
It turns out the 3core 1mm is the outgoing ring and runs half the length of the building!
Also the cut T+E was run in parallel to the next socket and the other end end was still connected.
It seems someone then started a rewire and gave up, the blue coiled single is a draw wire.
I’ve given up trying to work out what dark series of events led to this spaghetti.

Everything out then!
I have recently come across quite a lot of 3c and earth used for sockets , I often wonder if the sparks picked up the wrong drum of cable and didn't realise until it was too late

Brand new de Walt packed up after hardly any use today. A bit miffed, to say the least. Working outside, so I asked if there was a decent length extension lead on site so I could use a mains alternative. He brought me this.
Someone's got a bit wound up, it seems!!!!

Mine did that!
6 holes drill with a flat speed it, and the thing went up in a puff of smoke.

Luckily was well within its warranty period… (hardly 3 hours old!) and Screwfix replaced it straight away.

Picked it up at the deWalt stand at the Elex show at Bolton, 3 weeks back.
No smoke........but no fire either. Press the trigger and the led light flashes once and that's it. Get the old un back out for tomorrow...🙄
Went for one with a 4Ah battery....some good.

I’m darn sarf this weekend doing a board change and EV charger install. Client wanted the board changing as there were no spare ways for the charger, no surge protection, no room for a smaller CU next to it and can’t have an external CU as the cutout is below the board.

Apart from this board being in a ridiculous place at the top of a larder unit above the false ceiling. I do like how whoever put this in thought it prudent to run one leg of a kitchen ring circuit through the board. The mind boggles as to why. 🤷🏼‍♂️

But at least they used intumescent grommets.
