Nothing wrong with the wiring, it's those silly wago things, twist, and tape is the way forward.

I can’t wait to do my impression of a contortionist today whilst testing this.

One day I’m going to drag a pipe jockey and a building designer with me and make them test/repair/refit stuff like this.

A wireless programmer would be my first thought unless it was a simple cable run.

I replaced the flex with a proper 4C&E and also the controller. They wanted a better wireless system as the one they had was rubbish.

The run was simple so it was easy enough to replace the flex and install the new controller.

The sad thing about this is it was installed by a qualified electrician I know. And he can’t see a problem with it.

It would appear so and he’s relying on the cutout to be the backup.

It was not unknown but thankfully rare that a pilot would land an aeroplane with the undercarriage up even though all the cockpit indications say it is up. Nowadays a computer will monitor the situation and provide a stark warning.

With this in mind I wonder if your colleague has done this work so often he has lessened awareness of what he is actually fitting ie In=40A triggers in his mind that the device has current overprotection as well as earth fault, or in other words he believes (not thinks and knows) he has fitted an RCBO. He has been unconsciously incompetent.

Maybe, like you, I would review what I have done later on and thereby detect the errors in my work. Perhaps he does not.

Just a thought.
