Right ... Just been nudged to set this up by Paul.M and sounds a good idea following recent threads I've done in the Arms..

To add to the chaos, did the fan just vent into the roof space too? That is assuming it actually operated in any meaningful way...
He would have ducted it, but there's no space with all those cables.
 
Did you replace the flex, or just reconnect?
I replaced the flex with a proper 4C&E and also the controller. They wanted a better wireless system as the one they had was rubbish.

The run was simple so it was easy enough to replace the flex and install the new controller.

It was not unknown but thankfully rare that a pilot would land an aeroplane with the undercarriage up even though all the cockpit indications say it is up. Nowadays a computer will monitor the situation and provide a stark warning.

With this in mind I wonder if your colleague has done this work so often he has lessened awareness of what he is actually fitting ie In=40A triggers in his mind that the device has current overprotection as well as earth fault, or in other words he believes (not thinks and knows) he has fitted an RCBO. He has been unconsciously incompetent.

Maybe, like you, I would review what I have done later on and thereby detect the errors in my work. Perhaps he does not.

Just a thought.
