A typical example of not knowing how to terminate a SWA cable electrical trainee day 1 of SWA terminating, have another go, and you will pass the test.

So while we are on the subject of glands etc, how about this very recent consumer unit install. Firstly the bottom face of a new MK metal 15-way unit, love those sharp edges on the tails.

And the top face of the same unit, there's a big 25mm finger size hole right above the main switch.

Oh and yes, those are rubber cables in the middle, with no earth for the lighting circuits.

Thing is, these make less sense than the no gland at all brigade. At least with those it's obvious they haven't a clue!
In these cases they have bothered to buy the gland, but have failed to fit properly, which just completely bemuses me!

The thing is that we carry things like grommets and comp. glands in the van all the time even if the electrician???? hadn't seen the job most cases you are not far from a Screwfix, Toolstation or even a B &Q not forgetting electrical wholesalers.

Got a text from my neighbour earlier, a bit cryptic as it involved fuses and an RCD.

Had a look at the WiFi faceplate he fitted yesterday and needless to say his wife is unimpressed, I've never knew you could swear so much in Czech...

And to top it all off he's shagged the RCD by resetting it until it held...

Who ever did it all is clueless. There is a 50A3P&N supply from that board wired via 2 pieces of 10mm twin & earth.

They sort of tried, bit of earth sleeving, white 2.5mm cable clip on grey 1mm cable, fitting almost level, battery connected but dead...
