hi guys n gals,

I have a problem with my house alarm.
Is there anyone that could spare me a few minutes, and their wealth of knowledge?

i have photograph to help me explain - alarm going off when power is either out or turned off at the CU?

thanks in advance

Gavin

Certainly looks like it's goosed. Probably cheaper to have the panel replaced than have it repaired. A replacement panel will be from about ÂŁ50 upwards plus fitting, unless you can do it yourself.

If you do the checks that Tel advises it will probably show that the battery is'nt charging , the resistor could be part of the charging system an has failed or been damaged. The alarm will go off if mains power is removed and battery is depleted.

If the alarm is working properly other than that it is almost certain the charging system or the battery.

you could try your meter on ohms across the resistor. it will not give an accurate reading, esp. with a digital meter, but if it reads under 10 ohms, that's an indication that it's OK. only way to test properly is to dis. 1 end then measure it. note. i am only guessing the value as it's not possible to read due to the state of it. this should be done with the panel isolated from the supply, of course.
