Downlights

Is it good practice with 230v downlights to connect them to pork pie jbs via a flex, or can the 1.5mm twin and earth just loop in and out ? I've always done it the first way, but I was recently questioned why.

I used them quick flow ones last time, and not eazy to get 3x1.5mm cables into 1, load of crap if using at full potential, the wee white ashley ones seem the job, rest too fittery,,....6 '' bit light glenspark

There shall be no undue mechanical strain on the terminations of the conductors.

Considering they then lie flat under a floorboard or in a loft how much undue mechanical strain do you envisage the conductors to suffer?

Yep i see what you mean.I just like the ashley jb's.The clamp is a bonus.Was only stating the reg tonyjones was referring to.

I just use wago's into a BG chocbox with flex off to the fitting. Much quicker than JB's

Well i know i said 6" but i dont get a tape out and measure it......i always make sure theres enough......

Had an email from Wago stating that 'Hager Ashley use our 862 series connector inside'

Yes the new hager MF jb has wago push connectors, slightly more pricey than some but niceley made and easy to use.

I use 3 lever wagos and a choc box

A lot easier than 2" jbs whilst on the top of a ladder. Wago's + a choc box is also as good.

Who said their was anything wrong with connector block?Its just personal choice.I like ashley jb's.Some like chocboxes with connectors/wago's.Some probably like connectors and tape haha
