Downlights

Is it good practice with 230v downlights to connect them to pork pie jbs via a flex, or can the 1.5mm twin and earth just loop in and out ? I've always done it the first way, but I was recently questioned why.

What I find strange about this post is that its the Junior Members advocating good practice and the seniors hanging on to old habits!!

Click 101 do not meet requirements of 7671. You should never modify a product.

Why fiddle with bootlaces? There are so many quicker and better options now.

Undue strain on cables can be unforseen e.g. pulling on the neighbouring fitting to change a transformer.....

Chocbox enclosures (Chocbox, GB, etc) have not been tested with chockblock that you are using so does not meet requirements of BS7671.

The government is considering withdrawing Part P. The trade not taking the regs seriously enough is one of their gripes - why reserve work for us if we can not demonstrate a higher level of workmanship than the cowboys?

Tinning wires is not good practice when they are used in screw-type terminal blocks. Connections more prone to become loose after time. Daz
