We had the same problem put a noggin and metal box and then end up cutting them out so after that we started leaving them 5mm flush of stud work leaving them no choice but to cut them

Thet are suposed to be flush with the front of the sheet. This was always high up on the installation checklist. The fast fix boxes by their nature always are.

I can remember seeing a few years ago, galvanised metal dry lining boxes. Who made them i haven't a clue, They were being used on a remodeling of an old office building. Every wall in the place was stud drywall with raised modular tile flooring...
 
Eng54 I was looking at those in the wholesaler the other day . The lugs on them seem'd short . The only benefit that's obvious to me is the thread's are going to be harder wearing . The plastic ones in the hands of a dumb s**t apprentice . Squeak!!! squeak!!!! Ohhh sh*t there goes another one
 
Amazing how long this thread has become over a question regarding a dry lining box lol, you got to love this forum, bloody great haha
 
On new build I use metal boxes on nogging myself , I leave the box 10mm proud so that the guy putting up the plasterboard just needs to tap the board for an impression then cuts it out , and it still leaves the box near flush on the front face , thats me though,,
