earthing of hot tub

T

taza

hi all

i have a job of installing an external supply for a hot tub.
i am yet to look at the job but over the phone he has said that it needs a 16 amp supply.
my plan is to install a 20 amp mcb (or rcbo if not rcd protected) and run a 2.5mm t&e radial to a weatherproof 16 amp commando socket mounted on the wall directly off the house. do i need to allow for any kind of extra earthing etc should it perhaps be a c type breaker for the startup of the pumps?

i have not seen any paper work for the tub as of yet.

cheers

mate, i would check if it requires a type c breaker due to the high inductive start up some of the pumps req for hot tubs? I have had this prob in past, and therefore u will obviously need a bigger cable size because of the lower ZS figure?
this will need calculating.

just read the instructions very carefully, and i would run it into a rotary isolator from C unit and straight to hot tub from there.

most hot tub companies give reccomendations on how they like things done, so call them if u need to.
