Hi Everyone

How are self employed people finding business lately? I feel like things have slowed down a bit. I've recently moved though and seasonally maybe things are slower. How do others feel, is business ticking over ok?

Cheers.

Not bragging but I am busier than ever even after hiking my hourly price I could still easily fill a 6 day week but I choose not to and turn down the jobs I don't like the smell of...
That being said with the recent interest rate raises I do wonder when this will eventually filter down and people who might have spent money on a new kitchen or bathroom might start to put it off

January was very slow for me, I think most people were recovering from Christmas!
It's not long been half term and the summer holidays are nearly upon us, people will be thinking about going on holidays and the likes, that doesn't help!
I have been very lucky, I have managed to stay busy since January and have work until Christmas.
A lot of other trades I have spoken to have said it is starting to slow down.
Also the hike in fuel and energy prices hasn't helped either!!

the next 6 to 12 months will be very interesting once the rate rises start to pinch ,as self employed people we should really be putting some money aside in the rainy day fund Imo

That's the problem, a lot of people don't put money aside when they've got spare. It's good old fashioned advice, along with 'don't buy what you can't afford', but a lot of people these days don't seem to do either of these.

I had it absolutely drummed into me when I first went self employed to put plenty aside for a rainy day. so much so I really don't like spending more than about 1/3 of the money I make. the moment the money drops into my bank from a job I put at least half of it into a separate account and have done this since I was about 23

I’m not doing too bad at the moment, got enough on to keep me interested.

I very rarely work more than 4 days a week (3 if I can get away with it), I’d rather have the time with my family. Been busy since December, with PRS EICR’s and remedials being the bulk of my works. Part way through a rewire and garage conversion at present, and got other works lined up too.

One thing I've noticed lately is an upturn in the number of spam calls & emails from people wanting to flog me stuff - advertising flyers, fuel cards, branded clothing, etc. Plus even more of the usual offers to design me a wizzy web site and put me at the top of search results. Also lots of Chinese companies wanting to send me samples of their latest products. I guess many of these outfits are already feeling the downturn.
