Do you pull sockets and switches forward? I find there's so much variation in what's required, in the regs it states not to dismantle, I fully test and then pull forward roughly 20% to have a look what it's like for sleeving and grommets etc but then I was told this can introduce faults by another guy I work with

That completely depends on the nature, age, and condition of the system being worked on.
The sampling rate and the way you treat the disruption to the system will depend on your initial assessment of the system and the findings of your sampled inspection. If you are only pulling accessories forward slightly, how can you inspect the quality of terminations, whether insulation has been caught or not, whether solid drawn conductors are doubled over or not, how do you inspect the terminations for tightness ?

Lol, ah right. As a standard I start at 30-50%. A lot has to come off the facilitate testing anyway so the rest isn't much more work. If there are any problems, like Stanley slack wrist has done the initial install, I up to 100%. I also might start at 100% inspection if I feel the installation is old and/or in bad repair. This applies to domestic jobs only. Larger installs need assessing in more complex ways.

Yes, as I think when dismantling etc you could trap a cable or somthing, better to test after

That sounds like a good plan of action! I can just about get 2 done in a day, people round my way do them £50 each and get 4-5 done in a day I just couldn't do it!

Leave those idiots to it. Are you an electrician or a toilet paper salesman ?

I can only do 2 in a day if they are small flats in the same building. Otherwise I charge a full day for an average 2-4 bedroom house.

There are plenty round here who do them for £80, just to get a shoe in to tell a load of lies and recommend a rewire. They are generally a good coat of looking at and a few EFLI readings, done in an hour. Utter garbage.
