Hi all, I have done a few EICR's before however could do with a bit of advice on what codes you more experienced guys would give these observations;
1 Old 3036 DB made up of wooden base/back. (C3?)
2 Underszed main bond. (C3?)
3 Cooker switch mounted 18" above cooker (C3?)
4 Mutiple cct's in MCB (C3?)
Thanks for any input.

I am starting to come around to what you are saying gents. It must be the eliquent way in which you put it. Do I agree? Probably not. No big thing. If carry on doing things how I have been taught it still is not wrong is it?

Yes it is wrong, some would go as far as saying it could be regarded as fraud,at best it is flawed

You need to back up any report you produce with evidence of lack of safety an/or non compliance with BS7671

If the good book cannot be referenced to back up your codes, you need to question yourself and find out why you are making these calls

The most common instance of two conductors being found in the terminals of a 5/6A lighting circuit OCPD is the supply to an ELV TX for a a front door bell. In fact you could say that was a standard practice for many years, probably still is today!!

Pardon my ignorance Eng,your reply seemed to me to be giving myself an example of why its Ok
I think it is Ok, I have confused the subject with my last reply by the looks of things

Oh by the way,I am out of this thread, the man seems too set in his ways to change opinion

The circuit branches (they are not separate circuits) would all start at the terminals of the OCPD and finish at the last light position or socket outlet fed from that branch...

How by definition, can a single OCPD supply more than a single circuit??

So could you connect 3 different ring mains to one OCPD and these would now all become 1 circuit?

I meant installation wise not testing wise. Please ensure you are crystal clear on what is meant before you accuse people of suck things.

The rest of your comment I agree with.

Just because I see things differently does not mean I am on a windup.

Ok then. Let me tell you a story,

6 guys go out on safari and soon they come across a majestic herd of elephants. "Oh wow" says one guy "those hippos are huge" The other 5 guys look at him and say "No buddy those are elephants"
The first guy explains that he was brought up to understand that those are called hippos and can't see it any other way. The other guys all get out their official issue safari books and encourage the first guy to do the same. They all look up elephant and see the definition and the pictures and wait for it to sink in.
The first guy says "Well I can see where you are coming from but to me that there is a herd of hippos, we are just going to have to disagree"

Surely the other 5 must either think this guy is on a wind up or else begin to question his capacity for learning ?

I guess the moral is that if you want to get anything out of this forum you really must entertain the idea that you are not getting a concept if the majority of users are telling you something and can back it up with reference material. Otherwise how can the forum take you seriously, and what do you ever hope to gain from being here ?

I like your antidote.

Very well put. How about this. I will cease from this day forward to code this as a C3.

It is a tough one for me though. Just seems so wrong. If my guys done this on a new install then I will admit I will struggle to walk away.
