Hi all, I have done a few EICR's before however could do with a bit of advice on what codes you more experienced guys would give these observations;
1 Old 3036 DB made up of wooden base/back. (C3?)
2 Underszed main bond. (C3?)
3 Cooker switch mounted 18" above cooker (C3?)
4 Mutiple cct's in MCB (C3?)
Thanks for any input.

Then you need to re-calibrate your brain.

Multiple radials from one OCPD are classed as one circuit which is spurred at the OCPD.
Dividing these branches into separate OCPDs would make them individual circuits.
This is by definition, and cannot be anything else.
he is a lost cause andy, he wouldnt understand parallel supplies either.

a parallel supply is exactly the same so no code.

besides smokes would be looped off perm L from a light not back to board

Nope. We are gonna have to agree to disagree on this one.

Does the definition for final circuit mention an OCPD ? No
Does the definition of either final circuit or circuit mention standard arrangements or your preconceived ideas of what a circuit should be ? No
If a radial was spurred off into three branches along it's length would you say it was separate final circuits ? No
So when it is spurred at the OCPD is suddenly becomes more circuits ? No
Is the definition of circuit an arrangement in any form, not just standard final circuit arrangements, supplied by the same OCPD ? Yes

It's not agreeing to disagree, it's just your failure to read and understand definitions.

I fail to see how hard this is to comprehend?!

Let me make this simple for you UKES; that regulation is there to prevent people from connecting one circuit to two OCPDs.

No matter how many conductors there are in one OCPD, it is still one circuit. Take a branch from that one circuit and connect it into a second OCPD and you would then be in breach of this regulation.

So in your opinion when would 314.1 come into force?

At the design stage.
You wouldn't put everything onto one ocpd so the installation is divided into circuits. Lighting, power heating etc.
Similarly, an installation with say several rooms or floors or high loads wouldn't have all the power on one circuit. That's where reg 314.1 comes in.
How these circuits are arranged or divided up is down to the person designing the installation.
Now, if for example he puts several rooms onto one way of a db then that is one circuit.

So when does a final circuit start / finish?

I am starting to come around to what you are saying gents. It must be the eliquent way in which you put it. Do I agree? Probably not. No big thing. If carry on doing things how I have been taught it still is not wrong is it?
