Discuss Elecsa Assessment in the Certification NICEIC, NAPIT, Stroma, BECSA Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Mr stevens will be assessing me....back end of march.....had to put it back a bit....was supposed to be end of feb......

on another note...just looked at that report from C&G on decembers 2391 candidates......i mean whats all that about candidates not knowing whats TN-S and TN-C-S all about?...and applying 0.8 correction factor for ambient tempreture to measured values of Zs?

good luck sure you will be ok

they are very friendly and just gently tease the necessary answers out of you and maybe ask you to show were to find it in the regs etc or elecys guide to building regs if you do whilst drinking coffee as long as all your paperwork in order and have the relevent books
PLI
certificates completed correctly
qualifications to show them
calibrated test equipment
they are very easy to get on with more like having a chat with a work mate or a boss you get along with lol

Well the day of the assessment came and as i was dropping the missus and kids so i had a empty house... my assessor turned up.. unknowing to me though as i was told on the phone my appointment was a 1.30pm. so as i sat at home preparing for him to arive the time came when i decided to phone elecsa to find out what was going on, to which they informed me that my appointment was at 9.30 and as i 'missed it' i will need to rebook and pay the ÂŁ440 odd pound assessment fee!! but as i had no letter of conformation or email as they are stating i should have recieved i dont really know what to do. we will see on monday when i phone ay?

Bummer! Did you not have an email telling you the time for the appt aswell?

yeh i had a ssessment booked for january and i needed to rebook it.. so they gave me the 2nd march at 1.30. and said i would recieve a conformation letter/email. except i didnt recieve either so just assumed the best, march 2nd 1.30..

more fool me for not double checking a few days before! ill see maybe they will waiver the fee as i didnt recieve conformation or maybe ill have to pay. lets see on monday

Fingers crossed for you mate, NICEIC tried having me for a revisit, even though I'd told them I was in hospital having a life saving operation, then the threatening letters started, and oooooh, 'removed me from the register' skanks.

Elecsa were great with me. I was admitted to hospital a couple of days before my planned assessment in january Wife phoned up and they told her no problem just to phone up when ready. Phoned up when I was back on my feet and give a new date at no additional cost. Passed my assessment last Friday. Seem like a decent set up to me. Fingers crossed for you mate.

thats unlucky mate
you should have received the letter and email confirming the date so stick to your guns tell them you was told 1.30pm and have received no communication in any form to say otherwise
and if no joy join napit on the principle

i have always recieved a letter and email , last one did make me laugh got an email sent 4.30 saying my assesment was the same day at 9.30 never thought i would have to go back in time rang up problem solved wrong month was sent but assesment came great guy very helpful ,

Had mine on thursday with Mr. Stevens. And passed, everything was straight forward even though you cant help thinking you've missed something. So roll on next year. As has been said before they dont come looking to fail you and any questions todo with the regs you can look it up in the book there and then. So good luck and don't panic.

congrats mate

thats how i found it as long as everythings in order its more of a friendly chat on the knowledge of regs and building regs etc
and if your job is all up to scratch you carry out safe iso do a few tests and thats it

I passed my frst ELECSA assesment today, so I thought I 'd share the info I gathered from other threads/forums with respect to the assessment that helped me to get through by refeshing and committing this to memory - the assessor seemed impressed that I didnt need to refer to the books.

I still got an advisory for leaving a bit too much exposed metal on in the CU though, and advised to move the bonding condutor terminations from the suppliers cutout to the CU in future to avoid parallel paths when testing.
