Hi,

I've had an extension built and the 2nd fix electrical is all done and all the electrician needs to do is test and issue cert. Problem is I can't get hold of him.

I have tried asking other electricians if they will test but all so far have refused as they didn't do the design and install. Its all that's holding up my completion cert. from the council.

Other than track him down, what can I do? I have photos of 1st fix and the design, which I guess is no good.

Cheers

James

Aye ..... I've driven a few of those things up 'n' doon the A19 in me time.

Is that how you pulled Tidy boiler, I bet she couldn't resist you in that bad a$$

Come on then OP you have just won the golden ticket, 2 of the best sparks on the forum have said they will get you out of the brown stuff and all for a measly £500.
It's a no brainer mate go for it.

Well he'll be out of the brown stuff if there's nothing to code.

Surely the Op will realise that if things are found and need remedial action then that will be extra to original quote.
Well he will when he reads this I suppose!

bear in mind that an EICR is a BS7671 certificate. the difference being that it's a condition report, not an installation certificate.BC will quite likely accept it if you explain that the installer can't be contacted.

An EICR is NOT a certificate, it is a Report, it does not certify anything it merely provides a report on the condition.

Tidy I'm sure he doesn't look at it like that!

my bad. should have said document, not certificate. just wanted to stress that an EICR is to BS7671.

Tbh, I really can't see what the fuss is about. A well- inspected EICR will reveal as much as BCO need to say the place is safe, without the inspector pledging their life to it like an EIC. Its their call, not the Sparks'.

Exactly. Both are only recommendations within BS7671 as a way of going about things -- nothing statutory about either!
