Discuss Electrical installation certificat in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

Gasp!!!!!!, a 5 day part p course is not a course which will make you become an electrician FFS, how many more of these threads do we have to put up with here, and to add a 17th edition course won't give you any qualifications or experience either.

Having just finished your 5 day wonder course, I beg to differ! You haven't even begun to scratch the surface. I would personally recommend getting some work as a mate for an experienced spark before you go working on peoples homes.

No you won't, you'll be winging it, I doubt you'll be able to even interpret 90% of what the regs book tells you. You might be able to kid the unsuspecting public that you know what you're doing but you can't fool us.

You asked a forum full of experienced sparks where we think you stand on testing, inspecting and reporting on the condition of electrical installations and you were told quite clearly that you are not yet competent to do so to which your response is essentially 'I'll do it anyway'. If this is truly your attitude then you are a disgrace to the industry and nothing but a charlatan.

Rant over :banghead:

"charlatan" haha have not heared that word in a while, Still love it

Hi if you would have read the replys that i have done i am under know illusion that i am capable of doing the EIC hence why i put it to the forum and before you accuse me of winging it you dont me or what work i am capable to so i thankfull for the comment but please wind your neck in i am aware i need experiance and i all so know a weeks course dosent make me inspection and tester of the year with people like you no wonder other sparks dont use this site i assked a question and got a answer and then there is you.

Thanks for advice.

Just a quick question - and don't get me wrong, you're not the first and you definitley wont be the last to post a thread like this.

Im slightly confused by your post, and the others that post like you...i just want to know, because i can't for the life of me understand....what the F goes through your mind to think your competent after such a short meaningless course ?

Please, please, please reply because im slowly losing the will to live with this industry.

Obviouslly didn't read this when i just posted my mini-rant.

If you were under no illusion that you were capable of doing an EIC then why post this thread in the first place.

No, you haven't told us your line of work - and for all we know you could have been an electricians mate for years and years and years - however you didn't state this, and along with your OP then people understandingly assume otherwise.

The part-p course certificate is the most meaningless piece of paper i can think of.

you dont me or what work i am capable

I don't know you you're right, but I do know that you are not competent to complete any form of electrical work!

no wonder other sparks dont use this site

Plenty of sparks use this site, the only ones who get wound up and don't like using it are people like you; pretenders!

You are an industrial spark of 15 years and are now converting to domestic work.self employed
You have done this part p thingy to register with that Niceic corrupt organisation

The replies have assumed you are a 5 day wiz kid
You are not aware of your inexperience to test installations that you have no experience of installing
You are in fact a nice guy just trying to change direction

The NIC will not cover a condition report if you are registered as a part p installer. You can only carry out minors and Eic's for new work. Not existing work.

Hi i under stand to all the mature electricians out there that have been in the game for years than they care to remeber that the part p is ****e. i got made redundant decided to work for my self on domestic but needed the part p i also under stand that the part is not worth worth the paper it wrote on but needed for domestic and yes my inspection and test knowledge is slim however i need to start some where but by some of the comments im bit preturbed .
