Whats wrong with using Ashley(hager) maintenance free JB's ? much more professional then crimps and heat shrink :smug:

Kill 2 birds with one stone here maintainance free will be recognised if the symbol MF is printed on the junction box / connector , advice from the ESC wagos and an adaptable box , here a pick im put up a while ago wasnt quite finished has now got trunking on the cables and has also bee sealedGEDC4629.jpg

bet that took you a while ! lol

by the time you have messed around with crimps and heat shrink you might aswell have used the ashley maintance free box ! yes there more expensive but you save more time and there much more professional.
can guarantee if you twist and pull the cables in a crimp they will come loose and fall out - i hate crimps !

someone actually try one of these ashley boxes out, you will see what im on about ! I havent used convensional JB's for 3 years now ! once you have used them you will never want to go back !

they state that they Comply with BS EN 60670-22.

yep same here - even if the JB is accessible i still use the ashley boxes. we get the 32A for ÂŁ1.70p buying 100 at a time ! compared to a standard 80p jb - its not even worth the hassel !

the ashley J501 downlighter boxes are a dream to connect into when your wiring 20 odd downlighters ! :)

That right hand 20mm entry hole could have been introduced to a file Nick :laugh3:..................no seriously nice job mate.

I use to use a lot of these push in terminals on panel wiring especially from Europe, but have never used them yet for T + E, so just wondered mate how do you get on pushing in the CPC with the sleeve on it, can you grip it enough to push in or do you use a pair of long nose.

i used a grinder on the hole much more fun , it was one of those jobs that after i did it i looked at it and -------ed myself for forgetting to file it off luckily there was enough space to file it and i slapped some line grommit round the hole to , at the end of the day jobs got to be right , as for the earths as long as the earth wire wasnt bent and nice and straight it went in fine i slide the sleeve back a tad held it tight and it went in obviousley giving it quite a tug to check i think I use pliers once one one wire as you know there's always one lol

Absolute rubbish!! Use a good correctly sized through crimp and a Good crimping tool and that crimped termination ain't gonna be going anywhere!!!

When crimping solid conductors, you need a crimp tool with a die that will deform the conductor within the crimp. Using cheap and nasty crimping tools will not deform the conductor, and is why we keep hearing about failed crimped terminations.

Do it Right, and you only need to Do it Once!!!
