You would only ever 'Rod' a whole installation, AKA TT it, if no earth was provided by the DNO, or if you decided to do an outbuilding on a TT a prime example might be an agricultural building where exporting the earth on a PME might be considered not to be best practice, in any event I always make sure all supplies to kennels are 30mA protected.

My answer ? Don't bond..unless it is proved to be Extraneous..all circuits are protected by RCD, much the same as a bathroom under the 17th..does it meet disconnection times ? ZS good ? Main bonding good ? RCD at recommended trip times..I think I have my --- covered..sweet

Fair enough but you was worried about the cables chafing on the stainless steel, thats why i was trying to come up with a way of bonding them, suppose you've still got the rcd.

Trying to stir this thread up a little :)

The steel kennel appears to meet the definition of an exposed conductive part

(A conductive part of equipment which can be touched and which is not a live part, but which may become live under fault conditions)
Does it need earthing ?
:)

Going for a pint now

No, because it doesn't meet the definition of an 'Exposed Conductive Part' - because a steel kennel doesn't meet the definition of 'equipment'.

Equipment -
see Electrical Equipment

Electrical Equipment - (abbr: Equipment) - Any item for such purposes as generation, conversion, transmission, distribution or utilisation of electrical energy, such as machines, transformers, apparatus, measuring instruments, protective devices, wiring systems, accessories, appliances and luminaires.

The Brb definition is all encompassing eg "Apparatus" (An appliance or device for a particular purpose) perhaps keeping dogs confined)

Equipment dictionary definition
Anything kept, furnished,or provided for a specific purpose

In the end.the kennel can become live through the equipment that is fixed to the kennel
If the kennel were to become live,a person or animal coming into contact with the kennel and true earth could be at danger of shock

use your brains for once. It is not extraneous therefore it's does not require bonding. To much theory; not enough experience. What do you want? Parallel earth paths and dead dogs?

That was a nice piece of extract, I must say. Thanks for sharing, and I look forward for more similar updates on electricians forums
