Regarding the no show the other day, I did a day with his dad today and apparently even though the conversation with the lad went like this:-

Me - are you coming back in tomorrow
Him - I don't know am I?
Me - I'm asking you if you want to come back in.
Him - Yes I would like to.
Me - OK, can you get dropped off at my house again, if not send me your address and I'll come and pick you up.
Him - OK.

According to his dad he wasn't aware that he was working the next day. And now the dad is saying he hasn't seen him for the last few days as he's been staying with his girlfriend, now the dad seems uninterested and seems to think its nothing to do with him despite badgering me for ages to take him on.

I said oh well it doesn't matter there is always the nut and bolt factory he can look forward to instead. (sat on a production line for the rest of his life putting millions and millions of nuts and bolts into boxes).

I partly get that.

I would put a good word in for any of my kids who wanted a job with a customer or contractor that i work closely with.
I would ask a favour of any of them to give them a try out if it would help them.

however I would point out to the new prospective employer that the favour ends with giving them a try, they have to succeed under there own merits.

I would also point out to the child (now adults) that I have given them an opportunity to prove themselves to there new employer and I will have no interaction or discussions to help them keep the job.
