Just come across this

The Press Association: Bid to recruit female electricians

to try and encourage more females to train as an electrician. I think this is great (as Im a woman) and I know another training provider did this a few years ago up north to encourage women in this sector. I do wish they do it in my area though as I would love to train as an electrician but can I get onto any apprenticeships? Nope! Im not saying the reason I dont get on to them because of my sex (its prob because Im not good enough lol) but Im glad to see companies trying to get women into the industry.

What do you qualified electricians think about women in the "male industry" and businesses trying to get more women involved?

One of the best senior engineers I’ve worked for was a girl. Get any problem she’d find a way around it, some of her ideas were really off the wall, but they worked.

Her biggest problem was she had to prove she could out do any man. She was bloody mad! We went on a H&S course, she drank everyone under the table. H&S? it’s a wonder we didn’t all come back with cerrhosis of the liver after a week with her. I jibbed out of going on an outward bound course with her!
