Discuss fire alarm in the Security Alarms, Door Entry and CCTV (Public) area at ElectriciansForums.net

Its the same with Quantant and Sita 200 detectors...tho the new ATX detectors are a little better.
Problem here is you have to pay for a course to get the software. Real weird panel to work on, have 20 Sita 200 plus panels I look after, and they are very unreliable.
Im just doing a self learn option on it to get it active... booked engineers to program test and issue all the necessary bumf - its for a 4 story mill complex and has 30 student flats plus commercial and industrial use hence the addressable requirements, got them out to do all the design too for free - so I now have a design to follow and just 4 looped systems to do ... as its not my main area of work Im just bailing a customer out of the quagmire with little responsibility laid on my shoulders ...been a while since worked on addressables and they were Gent using a loop method with zone interfaces on the loops which spur'd out.

Yeah exactly. Over complicated if you ask me. And their quality control is rubbish. We ordered 2 of their new Quadnet panels for a site upgrade. One had a smashed screen and the other just wouldn't power on at all. Both boxes were fine so not like they had been damaged in transit. Do you think it was easy to get them replaced? Blood out of a stone springs to mind...

Darkwood, if you're literally just installing and leaving the programming and testing to someone else then it will be practically the same as any other fire alarm system. The issues with these come after they are switched on and the programming begins!

Total Shame Darkwood, if its a new install....Fike are more expensive, yet so unreliable. An open system like Advanced, Morley or Kentec would be alot cheaper, and trouble free.

True but no doubt Ill be looking after it for many years to come... glad the flats are self contained and not linked to the main system, this system was chosen because one of the dealers is only 2miles so easy to get hold of anything.

Well Im stuck with what hes got and with 3 days to comply to fire offices demands their is no room for movement as I said Im bailing him out of a big hole... but advice taken on board if I ever need a system again.

Do you not need their lead for these as well? Ive got a Fike lead but to be honest, its still in the bag along with the manual and software!
One thing i will say is be careful of loop loading. These get really funny if you get near the max loop load and if the new panel is like the old Sita 200, the on panel loop load reading is not accurate in the slightest...according to Fike tech support!

[ElectriciansForums.net] fire alarmThe battery doesn't seem to kick in , the call points don't set off alarm , using the key, the only button that works is reset and evacuate.. And you have to pull fuse to stop alarm..
