Hi, Whilst using my fluke t5-1000 I’ve had an electric shock twice now, I’ve checked the leads and can’t see any damage or wire showing. I’ve stopped using it now but can’t figure out why it happened. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Cheers Mike

I'm assuming it's not been subjected to moisture or excessive condensation in the van maybe? If not I'd probably open it up and do a visual check of the internals then just relace the leads as a matter of course.

Were you using it as a single probe contact tester? If so is it possible for the other probe to have a higher than expected potential on it? I only ask as I believe some of the other voltage testers behave that way.

You should always either put the neutral probe to neutral first before the L probe, or not touch the neutral probe when the L probe is connected to L.

I’ve had the tester apart and noticed the battery’s have been leaking maybe this could be the issue? Tracking though the tester maybe.

No I had both the live and neutral probe on, the side of my hand was touching the panel. The circuit was dead and to confirm we had the correct circuit my mate turned it back on and as he did I got a belt.

Yes i immediately thought id somehow touched the end of the probe but my hands were well away from the ends. The first time it happened whilst testing a set of terminals I put it down to my gloves being slightly wet and it tracking through this. But now it’s happened again I’m not sure.
