What would you do then Westy? change the CU without regards to any testing or inspection, cus all this Muppet has done is look at the CU and thought "hang on some easy money to be made here.

We haven't even seen the whole CU, so it's quite hard to say what is or is not required or what any one of use would do. For all we know there could be a whacking great hole in the top of the existing CU.

We don't know what this person has or has not done, you have just made the assumption that he has only looked at the CU and not done anything more.

As standard I supply and fit a new Rcbo board for ÂŁ450.00 depending on number of circuits, bonding upgrade etc..
Did the electrician say you had to have a new board or did he strongly recommend?

Don't care what he said, I'd strongly recommend the OP gets that old poor quality CU replaced :)

The cooker manufacturer may even specify 30mA protection, i have come accross this once reading a manual! That proteus rccb looks suspiciously like the old shape contactum.... And the new model wont line up properly as ive tried before.....

Looks like the OP has lost interest now anyway....

Thank you for all the advice
- i am awaiting a written estimate with a breakdown of work to be done - then i will decide what to do next - I think a second opinion is probably best at this stage
