Hi all,

Just a quick one, can anyone advice where I can get General Electric 6A 30mA RCBO type B, looked on int. couldn’t find, just type C. Seems that it very unpopular. Alternatively, what other RCBO will fit that board, the board was installed in 2000, it is a split board, only half protected by RCD, and I am working on the lighting circuit which is not.

Its domestic, don’t see the need of type C, and not sure if I would satisfy the max Zs values for that type, because I quickly checked the Zs on the socket to give me a picture of the earth, and it was 0.89, so if the mcb protecting it would be 32A type C instead of B, from top of my head I think that is over the max allowed, it could be the same on lighting circuit too. I don’t want to go that way where some say if rcd protected the max Zs is 1667ohms or whereabouts, not my cup of tea, sorry...

Looked on Toolstation, but it seems they have only C type, will have one more look, thanks

They do not seem to be readily available, I would suggest asking your wholesaler if they can source them or contact GE directly and ask where their sales outlets are.

If you can easily acquire a BS60898 Type C Amp, why not just put it in if it fits?

You need a zs of 3.06 ohms once you put into account temp change (rule of thumb) this is for a c curve rcbo. You keep it below this Zs and you will get you 0.4 disconnection time

Thanks, but I would no concider this as an option as I mentioned in post 3, looks like I will need to ask GE themselfes, thanks everyone...

If your Zs at the socket is as you have said, I find it hard to believe that the Zs at your lighting circuits is going to be beyond that of 3.06Ohms.
