OP - Great new idea for a post.

MFTs - Relatively inexpensive considering their safety of use, sophistication, reliability, ease of use, robustness, accuracy, resolution and precision - and for work done usefulness to quality assurance.

'It ain't working and safe until it has been properly tested.......'

I considered the Mfts ,I suppose they are up there

RCD is top of my list

Differential trip

Voltstick and single point contact testing

I spent most of my time troubleshooting

That's what I mean about the 20th century. Although at first the electrical supply industry was mainly concerned with motive power and light, suddenly there was a surge in developments that created the electronics industry, which would go on to become a driver of electrical applications. And then with power electronic devices (see avatar) and later power semiconductors, an integral part of the supply industry.

And sometimes I still wonder why putting together the beginnings of a museum about all of electricity and electronics is such hard work.

short courses.. now anybody who feels that life is lacking in fulfilment can become an electrician!
Pay your £2'5K to the short course provider and several hundred to the NICEIC and you too can display an NICEIC sticker on your nice white van and call yourself an electrician!
well only for a few more months as then the QS rules change for the NICEIC!

"mini spot welder". Just arrived from Banggood. Strictly speaking it should be listed under "potential game changer" as its just out of the box. But from the reviews I, ve read its looks like the real deal.

Good luck with that welder the few we tried blew all the 13 amp plug top fuses we had and tripped 32 amp mcb many times, lets hope they have improved since then
Agreed. Up until recently they were all very "clunky" and expensive. I had given up on them. These "mini" spot welders were, nt around last time I checked so it's a new development. Anyway will report back in a few days, hopefully with good news?
