+1 for the Doncaster easy-fit 19-strand tails.

Not only for the ease of wrangling, but less forces on the terminals so hopefully less chance of anything coming loose and causing problems years later.

soz, but had to give you a disagree for that. solid cores are spawn of the devil. give my 7 strand 7'029 etc. every time. agree with the hard tough insulation though.

My old 20+ year old HP LaserJet 6MP is still working, and I think just the 3rd toner cartridge. Challenge these days is to have a parallel port on your PC!

I gave up on parallel ports years ago and use a cheap usb to parallel cable.

My daughter was given a new macbook something for her work, and it is a beautiful thing to behold. I was comparing it with my asus windows one.
I asked her, does yours have a touch screen? No.
USB ports? No.
HDMI ports? No.Ethernet ports? No.
This one that takes some kind of card thingy? No.
SD card reader slot? No.
How much was it? £1500.
I began to think my£299 piece of crap wasn't so bad after all...but of course I'm an old git and just haven't got to grips with the mac thing...and I won't be trying to either.

Laserjet 5 with a cheap 2nd hand print server. Plugs into my house network and I can print from anywhere in the house. Also got an Epson that prints both sides and is wi-fi but being an inkjet it's always either blocked or out of ink.

I have a backup HP inkjet - just in case old faithful packs up without notice. It's an all singing, all dancing effort aimed at business users(?) that I picked up for under a fiver at auction.

It really will be short term, emergency use only as ink cartridges cost more than I paid for the Laserjet 5. If you don't need the latest and greatest, there are always reliable laser printers to be had for very little money.
