We are a Green Deal Advice Organisation and Installers.
(The Green Deal - Assessor Profile)

We have twelve websites catching leads and get about forty a day. We have managed to do about eighty EPCs and GD Occupancy Assessments in total but cannot upload anything due to "software issues " !

We have been charging for these visits and could do hundreds more but currently have enough other things to do, so they are stacking up.

We were told there are only TWO Green Deals in place in the entire UK, all the other take ups have been ECO and that British Gas cannot guarantee a EPC/GDA appointment before April.

It may well work in time but at the moment its a complete mess. The government wanted a soft start so maybe this is the way of ensuring they got it.

If you use my postcode, BH12 4JF to find an advice organisation here :- The Green Deal - Find A Green Deal Supplier
you will find virtually none are Dorset based and all have significantly more staff than us.

There are too many hoops to jump through for most SME`s to bother.
Lots of work for auditors though !

1800 Green Deal surveys done in February! By my reckoning that equates to 22.5 surveyors doing 4 surveys a day for 5 days a week for 4 weeks---nationally.

As Green Deal installers and assessors I'm really starting to wonder how SME,s are going to make a business out of all this. Spoke to a Green Deal Provider this week who suggested we as the installer would do all the marketing, carry out the Green Deal Assessment, install the measures including purchasing all materials, pay the labour and then wait 60 days for payment. I'm not sure what part they were going to play apart from processing the paperwork and then collecting a nice commission.

Anybody got a better business model please

Yes I have
get to the provider stage greedy gits not putting money into marketing but you as an installer your money will do they think!!!!
pen pushers getting to provider status and creaming off the skilled installer that's how they get on

Sorry Sedgy, but we need the Enigma code breaker to understand that.

As I have said before. I think the plan all along was to squeeze out SME's.
Of course BG are doing loads, thats who this whole white elephant was aimed at. The Government doesn't care about SME's because there is no chance of us taking them on as non exec directors or otherwise letting them stuff their fat faces!!

do you mean to say that you can't get sufficient credit with your suppliers to cover your entire workload for 60 days, all on greater than 60 day terms?

nah, us either, and I hear that even some pretty big firms have walked away for that reason alone.

Whoever came up with that as a business model was utterly clueless.

Basically kev
there are company's getting the funding at say 28p per unit of co2 and if an installer goes to them with a scheme of 10houses they will offer the installer 18p taking 10p per unit and the 10houses could be valued at 28k but the installer will get 18k to get all the works done and the company getting the funding will pocket 10k
hope this helps

We are a GDAO and we have lodge 96 green deal reports to date so does that mean we have done 96 out of the 1800??? so whats that percentage 5.3% of the uk market ? not bad

MCS we have sorted our software and are not having problems now so I dont see the issue ?

we also have access to eco funding now.

loads of hoops to jump , hard parts linking with providers and getting on direct talking terms with correct people took us a year to do this but we git there.

that rather proves the case that this process is designed to squeeze out the smaller companies.
It's an overcomplex, expensive paper shuffling exercise designed to keep the Quangos running, the MPs rich and the small businesses out of their boys club.
