Hi there, I'm new to this forum. I'm going to install a double socket and a light in a garden shed. My plan is to run a switched fused spur off the kitchen ring as a spur to the shed, where I'll put a double pole switch and then the socket and light. I'm using some steel armoured cable underground to run from the fused spur to the double pole switch. I believe this will only require a MWC. Would that be correct? As such its not notifiable, is it? I have the appropriate qualifications (2391, 17th ed etc) but I'm not registered yet (took all the courses and then got a job that didn't require me to get registered) and I am comfortable with the testing required, but as it is a while (about a year ago) that I qualified, the details of certification etc are a bit rusty and I just want to be sure I'm doing it right. Your help and advice would be :38:gratefully received.

Installing a spur from a ring final circuit would not be notifiable work in England, but would be in Wales, is not applicable in Scotland, not sure about Northern Ireland.
In each case a minor electrical installation works certificate would cover this.

The technique you describe does not sound good but would meet the regulatory requirements.

Even though it is supplying a garden building ? I didn't know that.

Just read what is notifiable work in the approved document and it now looks pretty much like it is only in rooms containing a bath or shower etc. If this is right it is bloody expensive to be a member of a scam scheme just to notify work in these areas isn't it ??????

Yes.
Doctors pay less to be registered each year. We are well and truly reamed.
