Hager CUs seem to be well respected on the forum. I have not used one before (usually use what the wholesaler has on offer). Asked about a hager and been offered the hager vc766h1 with 10 breakers for ÂŁ85. I can get a BG or volex a little cheaper, would others recommend sticking to the hager. The removeable bar appears to make installation easier.

I'm a big, big fan of the new Hager range. For the money the quality is superb and the CUs have some well thought out design features. I've been using Hager exclusively for over 2 years and as yet haven't had one (yes, NOT ONE) faulty RCD or RCBO, unlike other makes I'd tried previously. They always fit together properly too. I shalln't be moving away from them anytime soon.

Oh, and the new and old breakers/rcbos are interchangeable too.

Friend runs a medium sized contracting firm who wire up modular buildings. They use Hager 3ph units.

I have fitted quite a few hager boards and they have always been good.
ÂŁ85 seems like a good price and for the sake of a few quid it may be better to stick to what you know.
Cheers Chris.

I'm not familiar with the exact CU you mention but I like Hager products in general. I would consider them at the higher end of the middle of the road equipment. In my book it would be worth paying a small premium for well thought out products which have a proven track record.

I read somewhere here there was a recall for some Electrium brands, doesn't Volex come under that umbrella?

Hager boards are the business.I take badly when i have to install any other brand.Contracts manager told me he had ordered 14 wylex boards for job i've just done.I had a rant for 10 mins and got him to change order. He ended up getting duel rcd 12 way hager's for 45 each.Thanked me in the end

Hagar are a decent board, I have fitted on in my own house, but the BG @ ÂŁ50 fully loaded form B&Q and spare mcb's from electrafix ÂŁ2.50 ish can't be knocked, fitted one on Fri, good board, easy to fit

Cheers

i can endorse the BG . as said above ÂŁ50 from the orange shed, fully loaded, and it's a hi integrity CU with facility for non RCD ways. even got a spirit level built in.

Sorry Stu, couldn't resist.

I personally think BG are butt ugly. Square and angular - and whats with those side hinged doors? CUs are a functional bit of kit, unlikley ever to win any style awards, but at least the Hagers are soft and curvy and inoffensive to look at.

I think thats the old ones, the new boards are all rounded off with flap down door.......... but boy they are big
