hi guys, I have an interview with TPS.360 tomorrow. Does anyone have any experience with this firm? What can I expect from the interview, i.e. what might I be asked?

Thanks.

If that's the attitude you go in with then they're going to pick up on it immediately and it's game set and match, you might as well cancel right now and stay in bed.
dude, I meant getting any positive feedback from the forum!

You're a Mod, therefore you are experienced in interviews/ interviewing? That's all I was asking for some feedback about.

I haven't thrown the towel in yet for god's sake, I just would appreciate some positive input from contributors on here, seeing as i've done 5+ years in the trade and never done an interview yet so don't know what to expect.

I was hoping from some input from some of the 'employers' who recruit and post on here about what they ask/ look for in the candidates they ask for interview.

xx

just looked on their website voltz....looks like they either were lined up..or were given some award for summat......now theres something for you to read up on and use in the interview.....together with the usual stuff such as how long they have been trading for and how many employees they have.....both things they are going to be proud of.....so exploit it.....
will check that out Glen. Nice one

they are bound to ask you the reason for your interest in their organisation.....so dont just give it...`for a job`...or...`caus i want some cash`.....they wont want to know mate......its got to be on the lines of what they can offer you ...in time....for your commitment and loyalty to their company and for your own proffesional development as well......words that interviewers/personnel officers like to hear.....

well i know some mods that live not too far from me.....they were electricians n all.....i dont know if they had much interview experience.....but they were good at riding scooters....

Is this your first ever interview?
There are normally 2 parts to an interview these days, qualifications/experience and criteria led. The first part you can answer with examples of why you would be an asset to the firm and your work ethic. The criteria led part will be fairly obscure regarding situations you may find yourself in and how you would approach them, not work related but in general. This is to give them a feel for how you behave in various scenarios. Be honest but think about how what you are saying would sound to a complete stranger.

yes this is my first ever interview for an electrical job. don't know what to expect to be honest. I would like to bag the job, but not at the expense of BS ing my way into out of my depth experience. As I have posted, they have not given much to go on.

I can Install 'industrial' grade installations i.e tube, tray, SWA, Pyro, etc.. but wouldn't know one end of a machine from another.

Maybe it came across a bit harsh but the point was you've got to be positive and stay positive no matter what. They will pick up on your general mood and attitude, interviews are specifically designed to do that. Go in there, relax and try to enjoy yourself whilst selling yourself.

Never said BS your way into it. Be honest but be positive also. I'm sure that you have lots to bring to a firm so make sure you let them see how enthusiastic you are, along with your desire to learn all that you can.

i wouldn`t go into how much they can train you at the interview voltz....caus thay could always decide to pick a really experienced guy off the shelf.....plenty of em about......if/when you are offered the position they will probably put you with someone who has been there a bit anyway.....ita a chance for them to see if you are their kind of guy.......and of course if you like it there as well.....in time...if they think/identify any areas that require further training as regards your knowledge....and you have proved to be worth the investment...both in time and cash...then i`m sure they would be prepared to give you the further training that they deem necessary....but it has to be earned......like most things worthwhile having........

This is all I could find on this company Voltz. Looks like they cover a lot of ground so you could be asked questions on a lot of subjects. What job are you applying for?

But, you know, first things first, best suit, tie, shiny shoes, good impression, goes a long way.

And chill out.

Electrical, Control & Instrumentation

Interesting looking company.
A curious mixture of areas they cover, Engineering, Electrical & Instrumentation, Building Services & Resin Flooring!

I like the look of the E & I.

Good luck with the interview, Voltz!

I work for a firm that do mechanical, electrical and instrumentation. I have both electrical and mechanical experience, but not much instrumentation, but im picking it up all the time. Im asked if ill do jobs to which i reply, "ive no experience but im happy to be shown". The engineer will then talk me through it if needed, and i crack on.
To be honest finding sparks with lots of experience in instumentation is rare, becuase all most sparks do is run the instrumentation cables in, and terminate to a drawing. The knowledge comes in the commisioning.

If you get the job, then if you see something you havent seen before, then come home and google it.This will give you basic info about how the systems work, and you can build on that.

ive done a fair few interviews in my time and i like to see that the applicants have looked into what sectors we work in for what contracts and what we are looking to do in the future, even if you dont know half about what it is, it shows willing and that your interested in the company. And remember to sell your self show confidence and you will be fine mate. Good luck

I find it weird that someone would check out your social media? Unless it is a work related on like LinkedIn. My FB is just used for memes...
