My trusty Henry Vacumn has died & just wondered what the forum thinks are the best
Wet n dry ?
Just dry ?
What makes ?

Wickes is cheap & cheerful and does the job - but do clean it out regularly or you end up covering somebody's living room with plaster dust as the blower end is quite effective!

Got a screwfix erbauer one, was cheap, wheels are all snapped off but by 'eck its got a good suck.

well whatever you do dont get a "vax".....we had one of these once and it was crap........chucked it in a bin in the end..hated it.....can you evenstill get "Vax"?....

Dunno if you can still get them Glenn, but one appeared overnight in the skip I hired a couple of weeks ago.

If your vacuum is less than a year old take it back to Screwfix There policy is to exchange for new replacement

The WICKES one only has a bag over the motor. All the gunk goes straight into the sump.

A few of my colleges have Earlex wet/dry vac/extractors and swear by them (that's "by them" NOT at them).

Are you sure Henry has died? There is a thermal cut-out on them that will reset itself after 15 minutes...

I would go with the Earlex as someone has said above. Mine was in fact was branded as Wickes but the same thing. Don't think Wickes do them anymore. It has taken some serious abuse - from rubble to sawdust to draining a flooded extension. You can get the same thing from tlc-direct part number EX-WD1000 and they have just cut the price to £50. Mainly use mine with the wet n dry filter in place all the time and you can just hose the filter clean. I did buy some cheapo filters off eBay and they were rubbish but the tlc spares are fine.
