and FOURTH child u need to invest in a TV mate a lot cheaper in the long run,lol i have 2 and no more thats me done[/QUOTE]

I have got a nice 50" plasma... just dont get to watch it because the kids get there first!!!!!! :)

£30 p/h. im down south. I only do private jobs and only one person has said something about my price, I told him I refuse to budge on labour cost, and he paid (took him 3 weeks mind). I am happy charging this price as my work is of high standard, I use very good quality gear and I work hard and quickly. I sleep well at night. If they are not happy with my price, I am more than happy for them to use someone else. Forgot to mention, there is a lot that you I dont charge for i,e going to look at the job and speccing it/ pricing it, driving round different wholesalers picking gear up, ordering gear, chasing it up, printing certificates etc etc. In my eyes £20 is unrealistic,I worked hard and I see myself as a proffesional. No offence but plasterers, brickies and decorators charge £20 p/h and I sincerely believe I am worth more than them. (sorry if I offend people, but this is my view).
100% agree mate, my thoughts exactly :-D

Does that include the Part P registration costs, your insurance and expenses for down in the south.

not forgetting that a gas engineer quotes £60 an hour,so how can people complain at £25-30 for an electrician,we have better all round skills in my opinion(not biased at all am i lol).

London and South East got to be £200 per day / £25 per hour.

Jobbing work you may need to charge more for the first hour, say £40 and then £25 per hour after that.

Do it on a price is best if you can.

Hand job £10 etc etc
Easyest way mate ring around your local area to gauge it.
I dont live in the smoke so cant really advise :S
Im sure theres a webby for joe blogs on what they should be charged posted on the forums some where, Mite give you a better ideal for the area.
If i come across it i ll pm you the details.

Your looking at £150 a day min id say tho, down south "we d skin a turd for ten pence"
Better to be in the middle price wise and busy. Or expensive and shining you computer chair with your arse!

Seriously when people come on here saying they charge £40 an hour labour giving it large it makes me laugh. I don't know what goes on down south but up here you're looking at £140-£160 day rate.

I make my money on small jobs like a ten minute fan swop the other day. I was there 5 mins. Replaced fan £110. Job done.

I'd agree that south way, £25p/h on day rate, and maybe £40 for an hour or twos work....

but if you are starting out, you are going to have to get the work coming in, so you may have to start off cheaper to get the jobs, then as the work starts to build up increase your prices and hopefully the work will fall back a little (as long as the next newb comes along to steal some of your work) and you will be busy enough and earning enough

good luck!

So when your combi condensing boiler goes on the blink you'll know how to find & fix the fault will you?

And of course you understand the principles of "fully modulating gas valves" & "zero governors"

I'm not biased either - I just don't think any one trade is any better - or worse - than any other, we just have different skills. :)
