Hi all,

Im due to be renovating a property in the near future which I am in the process of buying.

I am an Electrician but with limited domestic experience.

I have a query regarding the main incoming supply and how to tidy it up.

The incoming supply, main fuse and meter are fixed to a chunky board which looks pretty naff and sticks out a fair bit.

As it's the DNO supply I don't really have many options other than call them out and pay a large amount to move it. The other option I thought of was to box it in with a door for access.

The ideal place would be to move it to underneath the stairs (approx. 5 metres) but I have a limited budget and believe Western Power would want a hefty amount.

Does anyone else have any ideas or opinions?

Would be much appreciated.

Please see photos

Thanks

Cheers guys that's was what I thought.

Any ideas how much WP would charge to extend the cable 5 metres?

What would be the best way to come out of the cupboard to the consumer unit?

As seen in photo, the meter is pretty high so consumer unit wouldn't be accessible. It would also look pretty naff just fixed to the wall in the hallway lol

How the hell would we know lol

I thought you said you were an electrician????

With regards to the incoming supply dangling, that is another issue which needs to be rectified.

It sits in a gap alongside the door frame then out into the meter. Can that be concealed in trunking?

I am unable to work on the property at the moment as I am not officially the owner until the survey, mortgage etc have been completed.

The property is a 2 bed mid terrace.

It's fairly common to see them like that around here, the lead incomer would have started off running straight up the wall to the head neatly clipped in place with metal saddles.
But then some donut decides to remove the clips and stuff it into the corner with some DIY attempt at boxing it in.
