I did email them about this, the reply is below verbatim.

I'm very sorry, every starter kit should usually come with one as standard! I will have to chat to the guys in dispatch and see what happened. I'll send you one first thing Tuesday and I'll put in an extra switch and load free of charge to say sorry!

They are good guys, I asked for all switch and loads in my kit instead of the splitters and it was no problem for them.

Good point, I think my point was time saving in laying in cable, although as you know statutes/regs require us to use the least materials in an installation. You know its green and sustainable and so on.

I'd say the materials and energy put into manufacturing the boxes required on any job would be more than the length of cable they replaced.

In their defence the product is top notch. Really well thought out and designed, and the production quality is excellent.

I think the real innovation is the cable connection and clamp system. So much better than anything on the market currently.

I honestly can't see where I would use them. Even if I got called out to change a 3 plated pendant to a decorative light as the switch cable goes into the opposite end to the feed so there probably wouldn't be enough slack on the cables to terminate it anyway.

The idea is great though.

So, although as you know, I am not a tool tart I have invested in this little time saver. As you can see from the piccy you have two splitters and two switch JB and stripper (up to 2.5mm² T&E) but the jb only take 1mm/1.5mm². This is a wise investment not just a tool for a week and then gets left somewhere. Remember a tool is for life not just christmas.View attachment 42452
Vort, there can only be room for one tool tart on this forum.

If you use one of those to replace an existing ceiling rose for example; once you've connected up your Quickwire connector, how do you put the connector block up back through the small existing hole, where the ceiling rose was/is?

Ha - there'll need to be a whole hole, or perhaps only half of a whole hole as these things are a bit smaller. Otherwise it's back into the loft we go, hi ho, hi ho.

Exactly my thoughts....9/10 times you would never have enough slack on the switch wire as it terminates at the wrong end IMO.

Exactly my thoughts
I think you and others may be right if you only look at the product as what it is presented as. I have been thinking of how I may use this and for instance the splitter could be used to tap into an existing circuit to feed an extension for instance. I seem to be doing quite a few extensions lately. I am also thinking it may be of use in altering existing circuits to add more lights. The other day I had to wago a switch and feed and a feed to outside lights. I had plenty of cable to do the connections as it was a new install on an extension. Looking at this product it could have worked really well in that situation as against the wagos and box it would have been a lot quicker. As I have said early days and looking at it from all angles. Looking forward to a 2.5mm² version rated at 32a. The instructions have a somewhat cryptic statement being "DO NOT COVER" I have emailed the manufacturer to ask for some further information on that statement.

I think Wago connectors with enclosures are cheaper and obviously infinitely more flexible in terms of wiring configurations.
I can't see me being persuaded by any marginal time saving aspect as I always price my jobs so that I can take it steady anyway. #relaxednotlazy

As I said though, the cable push clamp is a great invention and it would be awesome to see it incorporated into downlights and such. I would urge others to ask them for a free sample to have a play with. Even if you see no use for them they are worth a fiddle with.

just ordered the starter kit from them. would have come in handy the other day... adding 4 extra 600 x 600 led panels to existing circuit.

Think a good use of these, if they could take 2.5mm (& 32A), is spurring off a cable on a RFC as a through connection. The instance where you can't use a Wago box, 'cos there is not enough slack on the cable, for the two cut ends to go into the one entry of the Connexbox.
