morph

Have no experiance on this sort of thing so sorry if sound stupid

readings on suspect dodgy fridge
are about 12 M
simply i tested at 250 V , L-E. N-E ,

Does that sound dodgy or as expected ?
its an american style one

thanks

yep i done that, i am thinking compressor myself too , a few weeks ago the fridge defrosted radomnly then started working again by itself

Hi mate: You really do need to look at the Whitegoods website, Intermittent Defrost / Re-start is just 1 of the known problems with these & very often caused by a faulty PCB. There is a repair kit available for most models.

Hi Morph: If you've changed the RCD already then logically it's not going to be the RCD. Got a bit confused with what you said though, you said you've put the Rings on RCBO's & changed the RCD ?

originaly two rings one rcd old 16th ed
#now two rings one rcd one rcbo
kitchen ring with new rcd still trips now and then i am convinced its fridge

Thanks mate: Maybe it's old age getting to me (Or the Rum)lol, as i said the problems with these things are well Documented on the Whitegoods site. if it's down to 1 of the problems listed on the site & your good with a soldering iron you could earn some brownie points with the customer.

yes i am fairly convince its the fridge , the woman of the house is a battleaxe and the old man ran to say its tripped again so i feel bad , but i know i have done an honest job but these people expect the earth for f all!

Oh yes mate, don't they just. You go to a garage for an Engine service & then 3 weeks later the exhaust falls off, do you blame the Garage ? No of course you don't. But you change a CU in a house & then find an appliance is Faulty & trips out the RCD then of course it has to be your fault, because it worked ok before. The words but Madam it did'nt have an RCD before so it could'nt trip it don't cut any ice.

i will see if it trips the rcd on the xtension lead#if it does then t is down to them to get fridge frixed
big posh house but htey are skint lol
i wish i had a five bed detached house with double garage and a big bloody fridge !

you could just add 2way cu and run off that with no rcd.. or as somone says whitegoods forum for the root cause, ive searched that site and it aint as quick as this forum. so post it tonight and go back tomorrow. good luck

Plugging a device into a socket on a different RCD is a simple exercise to see if the device is the culprit. I have never implied that by doing so the problem will be solved or suggested that the healthy existing circuit should be dumped.

Unfortunately the site has'nt been as fast since they updated it & for some reason seems slower for non Trade members. The wonders of modern Technology lol.
