Re: Impact vs conbi drill for drilling holes

i do peg that's why i have a leather shammy anyway whats the sawset file? im guessing its the really small triangle ones you get

Hi,a saw-set file,is the fine, triangular file, used when sharpening/setting a hand saw. After 3 or 4 sharpenings the "set" would be employed,to ensure an even off-set on alternate teeth.

That was when a man invested a weeks wage,in a Disston, and took 1/4" off an 8' board, using a hand plane or the saw.

The steel used in these old saws, whilst quality, was considerably softer than the 244s' of today, and a mishap with a floor brad, whilst sawing, would be canteen gossip.

Explaining little facets of a craftsmans' life in yesteryear,to my young sons, makes me wonder how the Native American tribe elders felt, talking about tracking animals, and horse skills,as the offspring loaded their hunting rifles in to Corvettes, and roared off :winkiss:
