Whats the difference between these and a normal nylon tool

From my experience I've not found another fisher as capable. I was wary at first as it doesn't look much, but not sure if its the material, or the ends, but it works great. Its fast and easy to use - especially for joining several together (though I've only tried 2 joined so far).

I've previously only used ones with brass ends before which shorted..

What ones do you use?

Nice Indi...!!! a nice upgrade for the toolbox :O)

Amp David... what other nylon tools are you talking about?... im pretty sure theirs nothing quite the same as these fish on the market...
For years now, I have chopped up lengths of trunking lid, to use as fish.... but this can get expensive & not great practise to be honest... wasting materials.... also the metal fish rods that screw together cant go round bends, or fish past multiple zigzagging cross members under floorboards due to their stiffness....
I am a domestic Electrician.... so im not sure what industrial jobs would be like with these fish.... but in a House, they are amazing pieces of kit... very simple to be fair, but perfected as a tool. :O)

my worst pet hate at work... is not being able to fish cables through something simple... These fish are exactly what the job needs.

Hope you enjoy your fish as much as me Indi... well worth the few quid you paid.

Thanks Amp David... I'm only 4 months old, didn't you know?..... :O)

That fish you posted a pic of is for conduit only... It is rubbish as a domestic fish... (when I think Fish, I don't even picture those things in my head), I had the steel version years ago... I was sick to death of it 'coiling up' under boards & it doesn't have any strength to push through insulation (weak as ----)... You could NEVER fish from 1 side of a house to another under floorboards with that thing.... Also I heard that the nylon version isn't very strong for pulling multiple heavy cables... Superfishers are amazing at both!

If you was fitting some down-lighters in a flat roof extension, & had to fish a cable from 1 side of the room to the other, with cross-members & insulation in the way, you would have NO chance with the fish you posted a pic of (you would drop your fish & try to do the job with some trunking lid, as everyone does...).... BUT I regularly fish crazy crazy routes with my Superfishers.... They are the best on the market....!
I am VERY fussy when it comes to tools... I NEED to have the right tool for the job... other wise I start pulling my hair with frustration!... Fast & efficient is what I am looking for... I don't have time to waste on fiddling with weak tools.

:O) Coops!

yes, then you could use one of the flexicams to have a quick look and shove a snake (nylon draw tape) through it, there are snakes on sale with a super powerful magnet for drywall, it pulls the end of the snake towards gaps/holes that you want it to go through, all you do is slide it along the wall and the metal fitting follows...

Bought one of those superfishers after reading those posts thought it was worth a try although I was a little sceptical with the op's enthusiasm towards them, but hey they're just a thicker version of the nylon draw wire

Anyway I'm not that impressed
they do have a place in the van but definitely not the best fishing tool, and I found they struggled to get through insulation and seem to get snagged on anything under the floorboards due to a tendency to curve ,they're fine for clear runs ,and to stand any chance of getting them under the floor they need to be kept in the pipe tube to keep them straight, I'll stick to the rods and spring wire only problem I ever have with these is the usual wear and tear.

one item I did have until recently (it hitched a lift in someone elses van never to be seen again) was a fibreglass drain rod same as the DNO chaps have and not the same as the type you can get almost everywhere for ÂŁ10
this was a great tool for punching through paramount walls, I've looked for them everywhere but no joy and would like to get another one so if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be gratefull.
